For a Birth Experience as Unique As You Are
As a Queer midwife I am well aware of the importance of having a birth attendant that can hold space for your individual personality, needs, and cultural identity to shine through in your birth experience. I am also aware of how difficult it can often be for birth providers to be open and aware of some of the unique aspects of certain people’s cultural and personal identities. It is my goal to be a birth attendant who can provide this awareness and space saving for individuals who are not what many consider the “mainstream” birthing person in the United States.
Why Home Birth?
There are a lot of reasons why people choose home as the place to birth their baby. Some people have a fear of hospitals. Some people would like to limit the number of people that they do not know who are at their birth. Some people simply feel that the environment of the home is more appropriate for birthing than that of the hospital. Some would like to avoid medical intervention or the temptation of pain medication. The most important reason and the deciding factor in whether or not to choose home birth should always be that the birthing individual wants to give birth at home. After making this decision the next most important question is, who is qualified to assist me with this birth? That’s where home birth midwives come in. Your midwife focuses on safety in your home birth so that you can focus on having the best birth possible.
